You can use WinAVI All in One converter to do this. In your converting window, select Apple TV Format, under Apple Family drop down menu. Like in this screenshot below,
Apple TV Video settings are fully compatible with your Sony Bravia TV's USB playback.
Now the real problem is, how can we do this on linux? Because WinAVI Converter is for windows.
Answer is simple, use Wine & you will be able to run WinAVI converter on Linux distros. I have tested it on Linux Mint, Ubuntu & Kubunu. Also all the features are completely working with wine.
If you hate Wine, there is an another software called Handbrake. It's linux version is available in your Software Centre. Also, you can find that "Apple TV" present in the right side menu, of Handbrake.
